VTOB offers a free after-school enrichment program in Rongthung, Trashigang

Drawing positive reviews from the people, the VTOB organization is providing a free after-school enrichment program in Rongthung in Trashigang as a community service. 
The initiative ensures to the maintenance of a balance of similar services in the east with the western parts of Bhutan.
The founder said that if the organization has an access to financial assistance, the plan to provide the VTOB After School Enrichment Program to all parts of Bhutan will accelerate. 
VTOB Educational Solutions and Services, Bhutan’s first educational service that engages students after school is an illustration and inspiration for curbing social problems through education as a tool.
VTOB Educational Solutions and Services, today reflects awes and inspiration for Bhutanese entrepreneurs.
Dendup, a business owner said, “Such organization teaches the value of education in all forms of life.”
He also added that he feels like Bhutanese disregard the educational business, which is the most commonly made mistake made.
“Personally, it has taught me that as an entrepreneur in a small country like Bhutan, we need more educational business in various parts of Bhutan, in a way that your children draw inspiration and motivations for a better Bhutan shortly,” said the business owner.
VTOB Educational Solutions and Services initially started as a voluntary teacher group on March 7, 2020, where the organization provided tele-education to engage students after schools were closed following the Covid-19 pandemic.     
With support from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and other organizations, the team contributed to voluntary services to develop BBSCL lessons.
VTOB also created radio lessons and Self-Instructional Materials (SIM) for over 1,70,000 students along with numerous educational initiatives during the pandemic.
Sonam Norbu, founder of VTOB said, “VTOB dreams and actions to provide educational solutions and services to nurture SMART (Sincere, Mindful, Astute, Resilient, Timeless) active citizens.”
VTOB working in line with Bhutan’s Education reformation process.
The founder said, “The organization will work to support and fulfill Bhutan’s current education reform process.”
“VTOB also aims in curbing social issues like unemployment issues,” added the founder.
VTOB offers young graduates a platform for internships, and voluntary short and long-term career options- a small part in solving unemployment issues. 
Sonam Norbu says that the organization has given priority to fresh graduates to be a part of the growing team. 
In living this dream, VTOB has committed to providing job opportunities to at least 50 graduates every year. 
Until now, VTOB has created opportunities for over 256 young graduates.
Tashi Tshomo, an educator at VTOB says that she had initially given up her dream of becoming a teacher upon learning about the limited seats for the teaching profession in civil service. 
She said, “I had to worry about struggling as an unemployed youth. I didn’t like the idea of wasting my skills. So, I joined VTOB.”
“I joined the organization in the month of August this year and, so far it had been a wonderful experience for me since I can do what I am best at,” said Tashi Tshomo.
Today, Tashi Tshomo is seen as one of the active members of the organization.
The organization which started with only two programs, summer camp and winter vacation camp has transitioned to having multiple programs today. 
Tshering Samdrup, core member and educator at VTOB said. “Amongst 24 programs provided by the organization, seven programs are found to be more successful to all ranges of age group.”
The programs are, the After School Enrichment Program, Rongthong Free After School Enrichment Program, 10 Pages a Day Reading Journey, ICT and Language Program for Monks, Nuns, Adults and Foreigners, VTOB e-Store, VTOB Vacation Engagement and Skills Development Camps and STEAM and Functional Learning for Persons with Disabilities.
VTOB consists of a CBO (Community-Based Organization) supported by a host of social enterprises providing various services and has grown to a strong team of more than 100 young members spread across three locations; two in Thimphu and one in Paro.
According to Tshering Samdrup, VTOB will continue to grow to serve the nation through the provision of educational services in a way touching the lives of people.
Sonam Norbu said, “Despite facing challenges regarding resource efficiencies such as furniture, teaching materials, and transportation, the program is going strong and has satisfied parents and children.”
Tandin Wangchuk, a student of Lungten Zampa Middle Secondary School said, “I would say that attending the After School Enrichment Program at VTOB has benefited me a lot. “
He claims that since the organization extends learning beyond what is taught in textbooks and classrooms, both his academic performance and participation in extracurricular activities have improved.
“I would say that VTOB is a very good place for school students. My son transitioned from being a shy person, he has become a confident and an ideal son and a student,” said Dema, a mother.
She added that she would recommend the VTOB to parents and any kind of learner.
