Be alert, scammers on duty

Many scammers are activated online. Some are asking for your name and phone number. Some want your e-mail address. Some want your WeChat address; some want you to click on a link.
If you do not know the person personally, avoid entertaining such scanners. The stories of people calling from some reality show claiming that you have won some huge amount and asking for your detail. Even educated people have fallen victim and lost a huge amount of money.
Some scammers are using Bhutanese sim cards, to gain your trust. So whenever, you receive a call or message, remember nothing is free in this life and anything that comes free and easy always gets you into a thick soup.
One can also get help from the RBP in case you receive repeated messages and calls. However, as RBP notified earlier, it’s better to block unknown numbers.
The story where a man from Dagana bought a sim card and passed it over in such a scheme also pose risk to many gullible Bhutanese societies. Today, they want your bank balance, but tomorrow they might misuse the sim cards for greater criminal acts that one can’t imagine.
Thus, report to the telecom when you lose your sim card or when you use your identity details to give it to some strangers or friends across the border.
It’s better safe than sorry. Protect yourself, protect your community. 
You must understand that everything you hear, see, read or watch are not authentic. As a smart person, check the source of the information before acting out and regretting later.
